Pre-Feeding Skills

When your child is significantly limited in diet or has a history of choking, gagging, aspiration, etc., pre-feeding skills with specific, goal oriented feeding tools and exercises may be utilized before new foods are introduced to ensure safety and success.

We consider all physical limitations, medical diagnoses, sensory processing, and low muscle tone in feeding therapy!

You may see feeding difficulties in children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, low tone, genetic disorders, etc.

We work on the following skills:

Lip closure and rounding

Tongue movements

Transition to bottle

Transition away from bottle

Biting

Chewing

Swallowing

Cup & straw drinking

Transition to solids

Expanding food preferences
